Name Current Goal Update of Goal- Changes and/or additions Berlin Initial goals: As a former PC user, my first goal is to increase my comfort with the Mac book and its programs. My second goal is to increase my proficiency with Excel. And my third is to integrate technology into my classroom by creating and implementing a curriculum unit that includes a menu of choices that utilize technology. Goal update: Goal 1--The Mac book is now second nature to me although there are shortcuts and programs that I am not yet using. Goal 2--I regret that I do not yet feel as proficient as I would like to be in the use of Excel. Perhaps that is a goal I will want to repeat for next year. Goal 3--Technology is well-integrated into my classroom plans. Biller
My goal is to create at least three interactive SMART Board lessons per unit as I move through this year's curriculum. So far, I have been derailed by dealing with other issues that take higher precedence. I will get back on track by January. I have integrated tech in the following ways:
--using the SB to have students practice solving various problems
--share Futures Channel & BrainPOP movies to classes
--put up the pdf versions of the textbooks, answer keys, EM journal pages, etc. to go over their assignments as a class.
--teach students how to use the Attea website (resources, HW Hotline) and the OMNI website, as well as share with them the various websites I have put on our team site for mathematics (classzone, trackstar, math facts games, etc.)
--I began practicing use of the Airliner, but ceased when my laptop crashed. Soon I hope to have kids start using it so they get used to using it as well. Christopoulos Ciske I am hoping to have at least half of my lessons by the end of the year be interactive Smartboard lessons.- Danae I am still using the Smartboard as more of a whiteboard and haven't had time to plan ahead and use the gallery options that are available to me. I have actually been using the document reader for almost every lesson and have found all sorts of great uses for it.
Conner I am hoping to learn lessons incorporating the smartboard in my class. I will use the document reader and the smartboard for the first time this year. I am really looking forward to using both the document reader and smartboard. The document reader has already been used in my class in instances where I did not have enough books. I am meeting with Jenny Felman to develop a lesson with the Smartboard this evening. I hope to use the Smartboard first in x block and then in the regular classroom. Davitz Work with 6th, 8th and Marek Dzianott's gifted class in creating electronic portfolios to show growth in learning- 11/10/08- Work with x-blocks to help integrate technology in new and innovative projects to help enhance and enrich the classroom curriculum. Dzianott To integrate technology with literary response activities. To become familiar with iCal and to use it as a tool for scheduling in the GE program. For the first goal: during the school year I have had a group of seventh grade students create audiopodcast book discussions. Students created podcasts that modeled after professional radio talkshow presentations of book discussions. Students used Garageband to record the podcasts and were able to add professional sounding enhancements to the spoken portion, as well as using tech tools to make the presentation sound smooth and clear. In another activity, students videotaped a skit written in response to the reading of a novel. The class used video cameras and imovie to complete the project. For the second goal: I have used iCal as a scheduling tool throughout the year. The use of iCal allowed me to build a complex schedule and communicate it with the teachers with whom I collaborate. Ersfeldt Goal 1: To familiarize myself with the MacBook and start integrating technology into more of my lessons To use the document reader to supplement mini lessons in both reading and writing workshop. Goal 2: To utilize the Document Reader, projector and computer programs to achieve my daily lesson objectives. Goal 3: To learn and begin using web-based Gaggle accounts as a template for students to submit writing pieces and responses to be evaluated. Felman To use the SmartBoard for student centered reading and writing lessons Have created reading strategies lessons based on the PLC essentials. Ford: Because I am most familiar with a PC, I would like to increase my comfort level with the Mac computer and learn about all that Macs have to offer! Secondly, I would like to collaborate with our tech facilitator to learn how to create an I-movie and develop an environmental project for my students around this. In addition to these goals, I also would like to attend the ICE conference to learn more about technology and its role in my classroom. Finally, I aim to support the OMNI team's goal of having our students create electronic portfolios to showcase their work from all of their classes. Grammas Lang My goal is to continue to become more proficient with MAC and familiarize myself with multimedia opportunities. Also, become familiar with blogging as an outlet for my students writing and reading.
Met with Helene and 7th grade team to learn more about blogging and Gaggle accounts. Request in to Jim. Leinbach # I would like to learn and utilize MacBook and its software for publishing student work, such as iMovie or iWeb. - Bruce I would like to learn and utilize MacBook and its software for creating, displaying and publishing student work, such as PowerPoint or iMovie or iWeb. Students successfully used PowerPoint to create and present work including presentations as Cabinet members to Barack Obama and authentic 1800s news journals. - Bruce Lindner # I would like to include wiki and quia more and then go to iweb - Rhonda Lundgren # I would like to implement a reflective online portfolio with LA students to demonstrate growth - Elizabeth The portfolio has been introduced and students are revisiting prior work to identify pieces for submission. Team opted out of portfolios due to behavior. Goal changed to integrate tech into curriculum. Created web quest for unit intro. Used voice thread for author studies. Used Quia for formative assessment. Used Quia for intro inventory. Comic life reading reflections. Nekola I am hoping to create a LRC web page and update the Browse feature of Alex I have created an initial webpage for the LRC based on the iweb class Helene taught through Glenview U. Helene is going to help me upload the site soon Noonan My goal is to become comfortable with using the Mac book and its programs, I've been a PC user. I want to use garage band with my students and create student activities on Quia. Nowicki My goal this year is to become more proficient with the Mac, as I don't have a lot of experience using the programs (specifically, I would like to try iMovie and iWeb). I would like to incorporate more technology into my lessons to enhance what the students are learning in the textbook, specifically by using visualizations, simulations, video clips, etc. I would like to combine these goals to have the students to also create their own projects using a program such as iWeb or iMovie. UPDATE: December 2008 - Students began using Quia as a way to complete homework assignments and some assessments. I did not use this as much as I would have liked to this year, and plan to do more with it next year. March 2009 - Students used ComicLife to explain the process of mitosis. May 2009 - I am going to try to create an astronomy project for the students using Voicethread. In general, I feel I became more proficient and comfortable with the Mac this year. I would have liked to use the computers more often in the classroom, for projects or assessments, but I found that it was often difficult to get computers when I needed them. I am hoping for a projector to use next year so that I can show students things I find on the computer related to the material they are learning. Right now, videos/visualizations were to difficult to show on the TV in the classroom. I was also very happy with the use of Quia and the online homework, and plan to do more with it next year. O'Reilly I would like to virtually replace my overhead projector with consistent use of the document reader instead. Also, I want to create more student-centered lessons where the students themselves are using the technology, rather than direct instruction activities. Now that Ellen R has her SmartBoard installed, I want to take some classes so that I feel more comfortable with the technology. Then I want to create some lessons utilizing this technology. UPDATE: I am using the document reader on a regular basis and have found uses for it ranging from review games to student presentations. I use the SmartBoard tools in my classroom, such as the timers, dice, and sound effects, and I also took a Glenview University class on utlizing the Smart Board. Ray My goal is to continue to become more proficient with MAC and to create a Ms. Ray's Math Website using iWeb. Overal My goal is to work on managing the Rosetta Stone Program that is a language learning program used by our ELL students. We have had many successes and an equal number of problems with this program. Contacting the customer care and live chatting to problem solve has been ongoing for the past several weeks. I'd like to be able to manage this program, be able to access administrator portals and learn all of the options and support that the program offers. Pagac I am hoping to experiment with use internet resources like gaggle to enrich my lessons using sites such as C-Span etc. I also hope to do a digital storytelling project with my students this year using i-movie. I accomplished all of these goals. Posner Prutch- my first goal is to learn as much as I can about Mac's. I had never really used one until this year. My next goal is to have students use technology with as many projects as possible- introducing them to Publisher, Inspiration, IMovie, PowerPoint, etc. For the research project I do every year, I want them to know how to research efficiently- showing them where to go to research, what makes a credible site, and how to dig deeper.

I have worked with students on several different computer programs/software this year to familiarize them more with technology and the great things you can do with technology. Typing has been a part of that throughout, and is a struggle at times. With praise and reinforcement, students are more likely to enjoy the process. It is surprising how quickly students learn the skills and remember steps to using different resources.
